I am the Head of the Institute for Democracy at Matej Bel University and lead the Research and Innovation Centre at the Faculty of Economics. My research interests include urban and regional development and policy, resilience, inequalities, and comparative regional studies. I was a Fernand Braudel Fellow at the European University Institute in Florence and have held visiting researcher and lecturer positions at KTH Stockholm and the University of Ljubljana. I have extensive experience leading and participating in national and international research projects, including FP7, H2020, and Horizon Europe, focusing on smart, creative, and resilient cities, as well as urban, rural, and regional development. Currently, I serve as Principal Investigator and Coordinator of the Horizon Europe project BRRIDGE. My academic work has, among others, appeard in Regional Studies, Cities, Journal of Regional Science, and Socio-Economic Planning Sciences. I also actively participate in international research networks such as the Regional Science Association International and the Regional Science Academy.
